Red Door Community (Formerly Gilda’s Club NYC)

At PhysEq, we understand the critical role healthcare providers have in meeting not only physical but also emotional and psychological needs of our patients. Cancer not only impacts physical wellbeing but also affects mind, emotions and relationships – it can be an overwhelming experience that leaves people feeling helpless and overwhelmed. That is why we believe it is so important to provide additional support beyond medical treatment in order to better support those dealing with cancer.

Red Door Community, formerly Gilda’s Club, is a nonprofit organization that offers emotional and social support to people dealing with cancer. Their services also include educational programs and recreational activities. Their goal is to create welcoming spaces where individuals can connect with those who understand what they’re going through and receive the needed support.

At PhysEq, we strongly believe in the compassion and patient-centric care philosophy of Red Door Community. We understand that cancer affects not only individuals but their loved ones as well, which is why their programs cater to both patients and their families.

For example, support groups offer patients an outlet to connect with others who share similar struggles, share stories, and receive emotional support. Studies have demonstrated that such environments can improve mental and emotional wellbeing, reduce stress and anxiety levels, as well as potentially improve physical health outcomes.

Red Door Community also provides educational programs on cancer treatment and side effects, nutrition, exercise and more. These initiatives assist patients and their families in navigating the often complex world of cancer treatments so they can make informed decisions about their care.

Red Door Community also provides recreational activities like art therapy, music therapy and yoga that can help patients reduce stress, express their emotions and enhance their quality of life.

At PhysEq, we believe that meeting the emotional and psychological needs of our patients is just as essential to providing medical treatment. Cancer can be a difficult journey and having access to emotional support and resources can make an enormous difference in patients’ lives. That is why we are proud to be affiliated with Red Door Community and support their mission of providing compassionate and comprehensive care for people dealing with cancer.

Finally, cancer is a complex illness that requires a multidisciplinary approach to care. Red Door Community’s programs and services complement medical treatment by attending to emotional, social, and psychological needs of patients and their families. We at CMC believe our affiliation with Red Door Community demonstrates our dedication to providing compassionate, patient-centric care for all our patients.
