Working with Claire to dial in my nutrition has been immensely beneficial to not only my training and race performance, but my overall health as well! By focusing on the “fourth discipline” of triathlon with Claire, I’ve been able to attack longer distance events and improve times across all three legs of the triathlon. Thanks to the fueling plans we’ve worked on in our sessions, I am always confident that my body will have the fuel it needs to push for the extra pace or distance I want on my long training runs and rides. Claire obviously knows the science behind fueling for performance, but is also very knowledgable about many of the products on the market as an endurance athlete herself, which I’ve found invaluable as I navigate the many offerings out there!

It took me a lot of trial and error to find a place like PE and a trainer like Julia Halpin. If you like when a trainer is really, really listening to you both when it comes to goals and session-to-session, she’s the best! I started with her this summer with a clear set of baseline strength challenges (I got tired from holding my niece), and I have felt so much progress in my goals! She’s developed programs that are VERY different to stuff I’ve done in the past and I think it really speaks to the level of personalization you get from a true professional in their field when it’s the quickest I’ve ever seen results.I also appreciate her more thoughtful demeanor because if you’re thinking about doing personal training and worried someone is gonna yell at you or “push you,” when you really want someone who acts somewhere between partner and a coach, she’s the one!

As a longtime client, I can honestly say that the trainers at Physical Equilibrium have changed my life. I have worked with Sara Dimmick, Sarah Currie and Eve Josephson over the years, and all are first rate. I truly believe Physical Equilibrium has some of the best trainers in New York City. The gym is located in midtown Manhattan and is very convenient to public transportation. It is a beautiful, light-filled space that feels very private. The trainers provide very personalized attention; everyone is there to work and to support one another. When I am there, I have none of the usual feelings of self-consciousness that I have experienced at other gyms. When I first started working with Sara Dimmick, I was a newbie to fitness. I had purchased memberships to various gyms throughout New York City, but I would either never go or I would quit within a couple of months. Sara started out by teaching me to incorporate strength training into my weekly routine. She developed a plan that kept me interested and motivated -- and because it fit with my existing lifestyle, it was sustainable. Before I knew it, I had lost weight and my cholesterol was way down -- all through exercise alone. After experiencing some health issues a few years ago, I did a good deal of research into the importance of diet and exercise in disease prevention and cure. I learned that a healthy lifestyle is the key to everything. I wanted to step it up a notch, so I again turned to Sara Dimmick and her partner, Sarah Currie. They helped me to prioritize myself and my health through a program of good nutrition, cardio and increased strength training -- with the added bonus of stress relief, a natural result of the exercise. This helped me tremendously. When the pandemic hit, Physical Equilibrium provided a seamless transition from in-person training sessions to virtual sessions via Zoom, which kept me from going off the rails during a time when it would have been easy to do so. As a result, I kept up my routine and stayed fit even during that difficult time. I feel very fortunate to have found Physical Equilibrium and cannot say enough about the trainers and their level of expertise and commitment. I am a believer.

When I realized I had taken over 180 classpass classes, was training with a trainer, and running on my own time seeing little results, sustained an injury, on top of a childhood injury that resulted in tendonitis still pursiing daily bootcamp classes in which did not have teachers who were aware of proper injury modifications, I knew it was time for a change! I was determined to find something that was better suited for me and my fitness routine! I searched diligently for a gym or trainer looking for something so specific you would think it didn't exist. I hoped to find a trainer that was educated in post-rehab, experienced in running and run coaching, personal treatment plans for weight training and just an all around support without all of the glam. Just REAL strengthening, real changes, real knowledge and real people! Sara and Sarah have created something truly amazing! I am pleased to have crossed paths with them and Physical Equilibrium. I genuinely believe they have changed my life, considering I can not only walk with out pain but I can RUN and just ran my first HALF with the support and motivation of Sara! In addition, the space is AWESOME! Clean, new and welcoming. They offer supportive and safe classes including yoga, pilates and bootcamp classes! 🙂 If you are looking for results, good people, and overall support in whatever goals you hope to accomplish, Physical Equilibrium is your place! See you there!

“Transitioning patients to physical activity requires knowledge, patience and understanding. Physical Equilibrium not only rehabilitates people after an injury but also guides them from a sedentary to active lifestyle. Each patient receives an individualized program to assist in both physical and lifestyle goals. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.”

"Sara Dimmick and Sarah Currie, my Physical Equilibrium personal trainers, completely changed the way I think about exercise and nutrition. What I thought would be preparing for a 200 mile cycling weekend with my family turned into a complete lifestyle change and a 25 pound weight loss! Without their guidance and support, I would not have been able to achieve the strength, flexibility and endurance levels that I did."
