We all know most insurance companies do not care to understand how long it truly takes for injuries to fully recover. Fortunately you no longer have to worry about exhausting your physical therapy sessions prior to feeling 100% recovered. That’s because Physical Equilibrium is one of New York City’s only personal training boutiques to offer Post-Rehabilitation Personal Training.
Post Rehab Personal Training is available to recent physical therapy graduates or current patients with doctor or Physical Therapist approval who want or need to continue rehab training with the assistance and oversight of an expert fitness and wellness professional. This service is particularly popular among those who have injuries or medical conditions. Our post rehab trainers are experienced in common issues such as:
Select Physical Equilibrium personal trainers maintain a Post Rehab Conditioning Specialist certification from the American Academy of Health, Fitness & Rehab Professionals (AAHFRP).
Your Physical Equilibrium personal trainer, doctor, and physical therapist are in frequent correspondence about your progress. We believe that your ability to reach maximum recovery is dependent on us having regular interactions with those who know you and your injury best – your doctor and physical therapist.
Post rehab personal training is available without a medical referral. Insurance is not accepted but sometimes flex spending can be used.
“Transitioning patients to physical activity requires knowledge, patience and understanding. Physical Equilibrium not only rehabilitates people after an injury but also guides them from a sedentary to active lifestyle. Each patient receives an individualized program to assist in both physical and lifestyle goals. I couldn’t recommend them more highly.”

"Sara Dimmick and Sarah Currie, my Physical Equilibrium personal trainers, completely changed the way I think about exercise and nutrition. What I thought would be preparing for a 200 mile cycling weekend with my family turned into a complete lifestyle change and a 25 pound weight loss! Without their guidance and support, I would not have been able to achieve the strength, flexibility and endurance levels that I did."

I've been strength training with Sara Dimmick, co-owner of Physical Equilibrium, for more than five years and it is a wonderful facility with fantastic instructors and equipment. I love it's small size ... definitely not a gym factory! Sara has over twenty years of experience and trains all types of athletes, in particular triathletes and marathoners. I'm an endurance cyclist and given my long hours on the bike, strength training is key to having a strong core for stability and of course lower and upper body strength to tackle the miles and the climbs. Sara also works extensively with clients with injury rehabilitation. The gym has a wonderful sunlit Pilates and yoga studio as well and private rooms for massage. I highly recommend Physical Equilibrium for its personalized service and extremely talented trainers!

I could not be more grateful to Dean Geller as a personal trainer! I started working with Dean as a post-rehab trainer, coming out of PT after my 2nd shoulder surgery. He has done an incredible job keeping me on track, progressing safely and at exactly the right pace for me. He thoughtfully plans each session, but is quick to adapt and truly tuned into what’s best in the moment. I always look forward to our sessions, and it feels amazing to be getting so strong in a safe, fun and sustainable way. I would highly recommend Dean for personal training.

The several years that I worked in the city, I trained with Sara twice a week to stay strong and flexible so that I could continue to do the things I love like play soccer with my kids and go on active vacations with my family. I have had some injuries in the past and Sara made sure that we are doing safe, effective exercises that target those weaknesses. I had a very hectic schedule, but I made sure to stick to my appointments because we got so much accomplished and I felt so much better after my appointments with Sara.

Sara Dimmick and team at Physical Equilibrium are AMAZING! I ran my first marathon this past November in NYC. I had a very aggressive time goal and I am in my 40s - I wanted to accomplish my goal without getting injured. I was referred to Sara at Physical Equilibrium by another one of their clients. She became my marathon coach through the entire process.I worked with Sara over the many months of my training. I had an online schedule tailored just for me which included running plans, weights, cross training exercises. I met Sara in person monthly (at my choice) for adjustments in weights (form adjustment, etc). She was available through comments on Training Peaks (our training plan software) as well as via text, email and phone.

I hate working out. I took a 7:30am Pilates class here with Cherry the instructor and it kicked my ass and made me feel so great the rest of the day. I haven't gone back yet but I check out the schedule all the time. The staff was all so nice. I saw a few people working out with personal trainers - seems like a really safe and nurturing place. I didn't feel uncomfortable or judged like I do when I go to some other "fancy" gyms like this one. Seems like a group of people who care about their bodies, and who have fun. Oh oh also SUPER nice changing and shower facilities! Free yoga mats (don't have to rent). Also the studio was small and they said they don't ever let the classes feel crowded so I liked that too. I will definitely go back.

I am very happy to recommend Physical Equilibrium and to share my experience of joy and relief after the classes I attended, I m very close to the due date in my pregnancy and i could never imagine that my body was able to do so many exercise , feeling powerful and in shape as my weight has not change, it has felt healthy and magical. i am very thankful to Julia the personal trainer I worked out with and to Sara who is very experienced as a trainer and as a mom so that she could lead me and explain a lot about my physical changes. both teachers have the necessary grit and enthusiasm to inspire and stimulate in order to feel pleasure with really little effort in every movement.. thank you

The trainers here are excellent and the gym is top notch and beautiful. I've been strength training with Sara Dimmick as I train for running and triathlon. This has been game changing for my overall health and race performance.
