Nutrition is not “one-size-fits-all”—and lasting change doesn’t come from quick fixes. At Physical Equilibrium, our Registered Dietitians provide individualized nutrition counseling designed to support your health, your lifestyle, and your training goals. Whether your priority is weight management, sports performance, or managing a medical condition through Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), our approach is realistic, evidence-informed, and built for long-term success.

Our Midtown Manhattan nutrition services are offered at 515 Madison Avenue in New York City (NY 10022). We also support clients who split time between NYC and our East Hampton location year-round, and virtual appointments may be available for clients who travel frequently.

Our Approach to Nutrition

 

During a nutrition assessment, our Registered Dietitians take a holistic view of the whole person. We may review medical history, nutritionally significant lab values, medications and supplements, and patterns that influence day-to-day decisions—such as stress, sleep, schedule, and training volume.

Your plan is completely individualized. Together, we’ll establish clear goals, create a realistic strategy, and build accountability so you can make changes that actually stick. We focus on long-term behavior change—not quick fixes—and we’ll help you cut through fad diets and conflicting advice with a plan that fits your life in New York City.

Weight Loss & Fat Loss Nutrition

Support that works with your training, schedule, and real life

 

There are three major variables that influence fat loss: strength training, nutrition, and cardiovascular work. The key question is not “which one matters,” but which one is most realistic for you to adjust right now—and how to do it in a way that is sustainable.

Our Registered Dietitians will assess your current eating patterns and help you build an achievable plan for weight loss through nutrition. If you train at Physical Equilibrium, your Dietitian can also collaborate with your personal trainer or endurance coach so your nutrition strategy supports your training plan.

  • Modified meal guidance: If you’re only ready for small changes, we’ll work within your current routine and provide improvements, meal/snack ideas, and practical swaps.
  • Metabolic testing: Determine your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) to better understand your calorie needs and reduce guesswork. From there, we’ll choose a tracking method that fits you—whether that’s using an app or following a structured plan.
  • Macronutrient planning: If you’re ready for more structure, we can help determine an appropriate protein/fat/carbohydrate breakdown to support your goals and training.

Clinical Nutrition & Medical Nutrition Therapy

 

Clinical Nutrition (also known as Medical Nutrition Therapy) helps clients use nutrition and lifestyle strategies to support conditions such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, pre-diabetes, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, obesity, and heart disease.

Our Dietitians will work with you to identify the most impactful changes you can realistically make—then build a step-by-step plan. Lifestyle change can support meaningful improvement over time, and in some cases may help reduce the need for medication management. Any medication decisions should always be made with your prescribing provider.

Sports Nutrition

Fueling strategies for endurance and physique goals

 

Sports nutrition becomes especially important when your training volume increases, when you’re preparing for an endurance event, or when you’re aiming to change body composition.

  • Endurance sports fueling: For half marathons, marathons, triathlons, century rides, and other events, we help you plan what to eat and drink—and when—to support performance, reduce GI distress, and avoid “bonking.” We can also help you identify what sports drinks, gels, and bars work best for your body.
  • Physique / aesthetic nutrition: If your goal is to lean out, build muscle, or improve body composition, we can pair nutrition strategy with strength training and appropriate macronutrients. Many clients begin with an InBody scan to establish baseline body composition metrics.
