Our Beliefs about Endurance Coaching

 
At Physical Equilibrium, coaching is about more than logging miles. We focus on sustainable training that respects your workload, recovery, and injury history—because consistency is what delivers results. Our coaches hold certifications through USA Triathlon (USAT), the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA), and TrainingPeaks, and we use objective data (heart rate, GPS, power, cadence, terrain, and indoor trainer metrics) to refine your program over time.
 
We work with a select number of athletes so your plan stays personal and responsive. Whether you’re preparing for a local NYC race, traveling for a destination event, or balancing training with demanding work hours, we build a clear path from where you are now to where you want to be—without guessing.

Dedicated NYC Coaching—Built Around You

Train out of our Midtown Manhattan gym at 515 Madison Ave or follow your plan anywhere—home, office gym, treadmill, track, pool, park, or on the road. We coach national-ranked athletes and first-time racers alike, including:

  • Runners competing in 5Ks through marathons
  • Triathletes racing sprint distance through full Ironman
  • Individuals, corporate teams, and charity groups
  • Athletes based in NYC and those training remotely across the U.S. and abroad

Your coaching plan is periodized (build, peak, taper) and adjusted based on your day-to-day data and feedback—so you can improve performance while staying resilient.

What’s Included in Monthly Coaching

 
We combine performance structure with real-life flexibility. Monthly running and triathlon coaching typically includes:

  • Proper periodized program design supported by data (heart rate, GPS, power, cadence, terrain)
  • TrainingPeaks Premium account access and ongoing plan updates
  • Endurance and speed development (with appropriate recovery built in)
  • Sport-specific strength training guidance (with access to our workout/video library)
  • Basic sports nutrition guidance for training and race day fueling
  • Mental preparation, pacing strategy, and race planning
  • Injury prevention and recovery strategies
  • Help coordinating race-day logistics when needed
  • Preferred pricing on add-on services (personal training, Pilates, in-depth nutrition, massage, and yoga)

Training by the Numbers

 
Not sure how much training it takes? Timelines vary, but these ranges tend to work well depending on your endurance base and athletic history:

Running
  • Full Marathon: 4 months – 1 year
  • Half Marathon: 2 – 6 months
  • 10K: 1 – 4 months
  • 5K: 1 – 3 months
Triathlon
  • Ironman: 1 – 4 years
  • Half Ironman: 6 months – 2 years
  • Olympic: 4 months – 1 year
  • Sprint: 3 – 6 months

We’ll recommend an appropriate runway based on your schedule, travel, injury history, and goal event.
